Hassan Kamal, an Egyptian contemporary writer, and Gholamhossein Saedi, an Iranian contemporary writer, were both inclined toward this style, and Kamal’s Al-Marḥūm and Saedi’s Fear and Trembling were composed within this framework. In both narratives, key components of magical realism—such as the grotesque and symbolism—are prominently employed. The interplay between the imaginary and the real worlds is evident throughout both works. At the same time, other defining elements of this literary mode cannot be overlooked. Both authors have employed magical realist techniques primarily in the service of humanistic concerns. Kamal endeavors to affirm and explore Egyptian identity, whereas Saedi, through his depiction of popular superstitions in parts of southern regions, reveals the authentic identity of those communities. In this study, after examining the characteristics and historical background of magical realism, along with a brief overview of the biographies of the two aforementioned authors, the elements of magical realism—particularly the grotesque and symbolism—in their works are analyzed. Using a descriptive–analytical method, the narrative techniques employed by these writers are elucidated for the audience.</p> <p>رئالیسم جادویی از جمله عناصری می­باشد که در آن عناصر واقعیت و تخیل چنان با هم تلفیق مى­شوند که همه وقایع تخیلی به صورت کاملاً طبیعی و واقعی به نظر می­رسند و مخاطب این وقایع فراواقعی را به سهولت قبول می­کند. حسن کمال نویسنده معاصر مصـری و غلامحسین ساعدى نویسنده معاصر ایرانى به این سبک متمایل بودند و داستان­ «المرحوم» حسن كمال و داستان «ترس و لرز» از ساعدى در این راستا نوشته شده است. در دو داستان مؤلفه های رئالیسم جادویی؛ مانند گروتسك و نماد به­کار رفته است. تقابل جهان خیالی و واقعی در جای‌جای دو رمان مشاهده می‌شود. این در حالی است که دیگر مؤلفه­ها را نمی­توان نادیده انگاشت. هر دو نویسنده از شیوه داستان­نویسی رئالیسم جادویی بیشتر در جهت انسانی استفاده کرده­اند. كمال حسن سعى در اثبات هویت انسان مصرى دارد و در جستجوى آن است؛ اما ساعدى با تصویرگرى از خرافات مردم بخشى از جنوب، هویت واقعى آنها را نشان مى­دهد. در این پژوهش پس از بررسى ویژگى­هاى رئالیسم جادویى و تاریخچه آن و نگاهى گذرا به زندگینامه دو نویسنده مذكور، عناصر رئالیسم جادویى با محوریت گروتسك و نمادپردازى در اثرشان بررسى شد و با بهره­گیرى از روش توصیفی – تحلیلی، شگردهاى نویسندگان مذكور براى مخاطبان بیان گردید.</p> https://www.journalspe.com/index.php/spe/article/download/116/103
