The aim of this study is to provide a comparative examination of the concept of meaning in life within the major currents of contemporary philosophy (analytic philosophy, continental philosophy, and existentialism) and to propose an alternative interpretation based on the philosophy of life developed by Henri Bergson. This study is qualitative in nature and was conducted using descriptive-analytical and comparative methods. Data were collected through documentary and library-based research grounded in philosophical texts and related scholarly studies. The research population consists of the works and perspectives of prominent philosophers in contemporary Western philosophy who have addressed the question of the meaning of life. The sample was purposively selected from the views of René Descartes, Immanuel Kant, Friedrich Nietzsche, Ludwig Wittgenstein, and Albert Camus, together with the writings of Henri Bergson. The research methodology is based on conceptual analysis, comparative evaluation of philosophical perspectives, and critical assessment. Data analysis was conducted through qualitative interpretation of philosophical texts and comparative examination of different philosophical approaches. The findings indicate that contemporary Western philosophy has moved from transcendent and objective conceptions of meaning toward subjective interpretations and ultimately toward the crisis of nihilism. Nevertheless, Bergson’s philosophy, drawing upon the concepts of duration (durée), intuition, and the vital impetus (élan vital), opens a path beyond the impasse between the “discovery” and the “creation” of meaning. From Bergson’s perspective, meaning is located neither in pre-established ends (mechanistic teleology) nor in the absurdity resulting from materialism; rather, it is rooted in the creative dynamism and continuous flux of life itself. In this interpretation, the meaning of life emerges from the inner transcendence of life and from the direct intuition of the creative flow that surpasses mechanical determinism, thereby justifying life as a continuous act of creation.</p> <p>پرسش از معنای زندگی در فلسفه معاصر غرب، در پیوند با بحران‌های مدرنیته و افول تبیین‌های متافیزیکی سنتی، تحولی بنیادین یافته است. هدف این پژوهش، واکاوی تطبیقی مفهوم معنای زندگی در جریان‌های اصلی فلسفه معاصر (تحلیلی، قاره‌ای و اگزیستانسیالیسم) و ارائه خوانشی بدیل بر اساس فلسفه حیات هانری برگسون است. این پژوهش از نوع کیفی و با روش توصیفی-تحلیلی و تطبیقی انجام شده است. ابزار گردآوری داده‌ها، مطالعه کتابخانه‌ای و اسنادی بر پایه آثار فلسفی و پژوهش‌های مرتبط بوده است. جامعه پژوهش شامل آثار و دیدگاه‌های فیلسوفان برجسته فلسفه معاصر غرب در حوزه معنای زندگی است و نمونه پژوهش به‌صورت هدفمند از میان آراء دکارت، کانت، نیچه، ویتگنشتاین و کامو، همراه با آثار هانری برگسون انتخاب شده است. روش‌شناسی تحقیق بر تحلیل مفهومی، مقایسه دیدگاه‌ها و ارزیابی انتقادی استوار است و شیوه تجزیه و تحلیل داده‌ها بر مبنای استنباط کیفی از متون و تطبیق میان رویکردهای فلسفی صورت گرفته است. یافته‌ها نشان می‌دهد که فلسفه معاصر غرب از معنای متعالی و عینی به سمت معنای سوبژکتیو و در نهایت بحران نیهیلیسم حرکت کرده است. با این حال، دیدگاه برگسون با تکیه بر مفاهیم «دیرند»، «شهود» و «انگیزه حیاتی»، مسیری فراتر از بن‌بستِ میان «کشف» یا «خلق» معنا می‌گشاید. از منظر برگسون، معنا نه در غایات پیش‌ساخته (غایت‌انگاری مکانیکی) و نه در پوچیِ ناشی از ماده‌گرایی، بلکه در «پویایی آفرینش‌گر» و سیلان دائمی حیات نهفته است. در این خوانش، معنای زندگی برآمده از استعلای درونی حیات و شهودِ مستقیمِ جریان خلاقی است که از جبر مکانیکی فراتر می‌رود و زندگی را به مثابه یک «عمل مداوم آفرینش» توجیه می‌کند.</p> https://www.journalspe.com/index.php/spe/article/download/195/118
